I had the opportunity to pick up one of the most beautiful, patient, well behaved TWO year olds yesterday from day care! Her poor daddy is one of the ones working (as the design manager) on this never ending, time consuming, difficult job downtown with my hubby. BUT instead of complaining about how much time Chris actually misses at home and away from his family, I'm going to explore the possibility of bragging about little miss B!!
I remember Tara was very pregnant at the Super Bowl in '06 - she was a gorgeous pregnant lady!! I also remember their baby shower, it was very different in that both guys and girls were invited. They had the shower in a big house and all the t.v.'s were on the sports chanel. Even though I barely knew Mark or Tara, Chris and I both went to celebrate them bringing a child into the world.
Well, I picked up Breklen yesterday from Day Care and because I'd never been there before, I was wearing my glasses so I could find the place. I walked in and she didn't even recognize me! So I quick took the glasses off and knelt down to her level and held my arms open - hoping "please don't let her throw a temper tantrum in front of all these other kids and the people that watch her during the day!" But instead, she ran over to me and let me pick her up and carry her out to the car. We drove home and man is she a talker! She's learned "puppper-puperoni pizzaaaaa" and I think it's so cute!
Anyways, once we got home, I fed her some Frito's so I could cook dinner and of course Sponge Bob joined us. So I had the spagetti sauce cooking all day and all I had to do was cook the garlic bread and noodles - not a problem with Sponge Bob entertaining the baby.
Soon, I had an old comforter spread across the living room, B and her plastic plate and fork right in front of the t.v. She wanted to feed herself which resulted in spagetti everywhere and I actually didn't care! The mess she'd made seemed to bother her more than me!
I realized something yesterday from my brief experience with a two year old at dinner time. I'm extremely impatient and controlling in life - everything has a place where it's supposed to go and it needs to be there ASAP. But last night, I wasn't impatient or irritable with her making a mess and walking around eating (I didn't even get upset when she put a piece of dry dog food in her mouth!). I learned that it's OK not to be 100% structured all the time, and it's OK to sit back and enjoy the here and now - and not to rush it. I learned that my dogs love baby B, they licked her head to toe! Other than trying to steal her bears so they could eat them, they did a lot of kissing and sniffing, which was OK with her!
I realize that not all two year olds are easy to deal with, but two year olds really aren't so bad!!

What a fun time!!! She's a sweet girl and she was lucky to have someone so cool pick her up from daycare yesterday! I love how kids change perspective in so many ways! It's so true!
