Bitter Sweet-Bon Voyage!

Yay! I actually get to post on my blog!
OK - it's been killing me to keep the secret, but we had a wonderful going away party for the Faiai's today over at my parents house.
Christian and I met at mom's around 6 last night to put together a few last minute details. First we had to make the trip to Target for the Faiai's going away bags and baskets. Then we headed over to BJ's for food. We got back to mom's around 8:15 and started mixing, baking and icing cakes. We had a wonderful time- we had a guitar cake, many cup cakes and a Sponge Bob cake! Stacy came over around 9:30 and helped, as well as brought the decorations. By about 11:30, we were all pooped, our brains were fried and our feet were tired! We agreed that to get the final touches together, we should meet at mom's around 12:45 today.
On party day, we got there early and immediately started blowing up balloons. The guests were supposed to be there at 1 and Lauren and Steve (along with the sweet boys) were to get there around 1:30. We had so much going on that we literally finished decorating one minute before the Faiai's walked in the door! We showed them their travel kits, ate lots of good food, took more pictures, had a Rock Band-a-thon, watched the kids color and draw in teh cul-de-sac with chalk and bonded.
These are all going to be such bitter sweet memories. I hope everyone meets someone in the duration of their life that touches their soul and their hearts the way the Faiai's have done mine. I can only wish everyone to have at least one unconditional supporting loving friend (non blood related), the way I have my Christian and Lauren. Friends, I can only hope you find someone who accepts you for who you are, not who they want you to be, and not who they want to mold you into, and not take advantage of what you'll put up with- full fledged 100% FRIEND.

Now, I'd like to list a few memories I have:

~Receiving a response to my CL add for a new female softball player, coming from a family who had just moved here from CA
~Meeting Lauren and Steve for the first time at practice and then again at the cages - she WAS just going to be our catcher. We got a 2nd base woman and a BFF out of her!!
~UFC fights at mom and Davids
~poker parties & bonding time
~CATT
~volleyball at my parents for mine and Chris's birthday
~silly picture taking and funny faces
~injuries: Lauren's knee and slide marks, Christian's swollen finger and slide marks, my forehead
~Rudio's rooftop and Lauren's one beer :)
~mani's, pedi's and Rukus for Christian's birthday
~my moon-dipper from Cam
~cookout, presents, play time (watching RJ chase Victoria around) and ice cream cake for Riley's birthday
~swimming with my boys
~Timmy & CATT youth group
~Mellow Mushroom, gossip, venting, and Lauren's birthday
~random emergency VM nights
~8:00 emails during the week
~endless text messages about nothing and everything -all at once!
~sunflower seeds, pulling out a win, girly squeeling and batting cages before softball games
~Cameron and his berries, dimes, bubbles, and very vivid imagination
*sigh* all the wonderful things that have made up the Faiai's trip to NC and us getting to know them. I'll miss seeing Lauren and Steve's incredibly moving music at CATT, they attitude toward God and that church was infectious!!

Sigh* I guess we were thinking the same thing because I just posted my farewell to the Faiais to my blog. UGH! I don't want to see Tuesday come.

Ughhhhhhh. You made my already emotional night even more sad!!

This was such a sweet post, Kelly! I am SO honored to have been able to share these past few months with you. And that you have literally devoted a portion of your heart and your life to ME. I knew you put so much into the party today just by how exhausted you were when it was time to leave!

You guys were such an answer to prayer for me and Steve (and my babies, of course!)YOU were the "community" I prayed and prayed and prayed for. I can't thank you enough for loving my family, especially my kids, the way you do. My expectations of God's blessing were blown out of the water when I met you.I truly believe that even though there will be distance between us VM's, we'll be friends forever!! I love you.
